Background

Walter Jackson has degrees in theology from North-West and Pretoria Universities in South Africa as well as an MBA in International Business Management from the Lord Ashcroft Business School in Cambridge, United Kingdom.

Walter has spent over two decades owning and operating businesses in Africa, Europe, the United States, Australia and the Middle East. Much of that focus has been on commercial and utility-scale projects in power generation, particularly solar energy plants. Fifteen years of his career were spent in remote parts of Africa providing power generation solutions to mining and oil and gas companies. He currently manages an investment company that specializes in real estate projects. He resides in the mountains of North Carolina with his wife, two teenage boys and beagle puppy, Lucy.

Walter loves to travel and wants to be the first South African to visit every country in the world. He has already been to 181 countries. He enjoys skiing, golf and pickleball with his family. He also volunteers at the Rotary Club and will be club president for 2025.

Walter is pursuing the DBA to possibly enter a career in academics.

Research Interest

His research interest is in U.S. companies entering the growing African market.
