Background
Abby Brannen is a career coach in Business Career Services and a part-time faculty member in the Department of Marketing and Supply Chain Management at Appalachian State University. In these roles, she combines her passions for marketing, education, and leadership.
As a career coach, Brannen provides individualized support to undergraduate business students in all areas of professional development, including résumé writing, interview preparation, and salary negotiation. She also leads marketing initiatives to promote her services and increase student engagement. Additionally, she directs the Presidents’ Roundtable, a leadership program for student club leaders in the Walker College of Business. Through this initiative, she facilitates workshops, hosts guest speakers, and creates exclusive opportunities for student leaders.
As a part-time faculty member, Brannen teaches Principles of Marketing. She considers this opportunity a pivotal milestone in her career—one that affirmed her decision to pursue a Doctorate in Business Administration. A long-time aspiration to become an educator has guided her professional path, and she views these experiences as aligned with her goal of becoming a professor.
Brannen earned both her Bachelor of Science in Business Administration in Marketing and her Master of Business Administration from Appalachian State University.
Outside of her professional life, she enjoys spending time with friends, family, and her rescue dog, Lucy. She is also passionate about fitness and is currently training for her first half marathon.
Research Interest
Brannen’s research interests lie in the field of marketing, with a particular focus on consumer behavior and the evolving impact of digital marketing. She is especially interested in how brands can leverage data analytics and artificial intelligence while maintaining authenticity and trust with their audiences.
