Juan Carlos has 32 years of experience in the construction sector and has spent the last 22 solely in the construction of pharmaceutical facilities. He owns a project controls consulting firm called Innovative Project Controls, LLC. Being a mechanical engineer by trade, he has held multiple roles in projects varying from project engineer, project manager, planner, cost engineer and currently project controls manager.

Juan Carlos is an innovative thinker and enjoys implementing the principles of project controls to different projects and tailoring them to each project’s needs. His project portfolio includes some of the major pharma projects worldwide, ranging between $500 thousand- $2 million, servicing clients like Amgen, Novo Nordisk, Pfizer, Novartis/HHS and Cytiva.

Juan Carlos holds a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering and a Master of Engineering Management from the Polytechnic University of Puerto Rico. On a personal level, he has been married for over 20 years and is a father of two. In his free time, he enjoys teaching martial arts, which he has done for the past 30 years.

The DBA will help Juan Carlos get more involved in the managerial aspect of construction and research the best approaches for delivering on time and under budget pharma projects. This should help supply much needed medications to patients faster and at a lower cost.
