David Sinclair

Background

David Sinclair holds a Master of Urban Leadership from the University of Nevada, Las Vegas. His professional journey in higher education spans more than a decade in honors college administration, teaching and mentoring. In his current role as Associate Director of Professional Development in the Belk College of Business, Sinclair provides professional development programming for all undergraduates, helping students learn and practice essential soft skills needed for future career success. He also teaches practicum courses for members of the Business Honors Program, including mentoring second‑year students through a year‑long consulting project with nonprofits serving vulnerable populations in the Charlotte community.

Sinclair’s academic and personal interests span urbanism, social relations, food production and transportation — all connected by a passion for understanding how communities function and thrive. He is pursuing a Doctor of Business Administration at UNC Charlotte to contribute to public‑sector research, grow as a scholar and develop real‑world solutions to pervasive societal challenges.

Research Interest

Sinclair is particularly interested in the intersection of livable cities and public decision‑making. His research explores how public leaders make infrastructure decisions, what influences those choices and how they shape public health, well‑being and economic vitality.
