Layne McGuire is from Oxford, Mississippi, and is a proud alumna of the University of Mississippi. Her undergraduate degrees were in math and history and her first master’s degree was also in history. After a few years in the classroom, Layne decided to pursue her CPA license and earned a Master of Accountancy degree. Layne is a leader in the consulting group at RSM’s Financial Services practice. Her main focus is to deliver internal audit and consulting services to banks and credit unions. While she has worked with financial institutions both large and small, her current focus is on community banking. She serves a portfolio of clients within the Southeastern United States.

Outside of work, Layne enjoys a variety of music and volunteer activities. Layne started playing alto saxophone in sixth grade and continued through graduate school. Currently, she plays alto sax and serves as treasurer of the Charlotte Concert Band. Five years ago, she discovered community handbells and found a new love. Layne performs frequently with the Charlotte Bronze Handbell Ensemble.

Layne’s first love and career is in teaching and it has always been one of her favorite parts of public accounting. Pursuing doctoral work has always been a lifelong goal of hers.

Layne’s primary research interest is in models for managing matrix organizations.
